B4BC - Day 10 (117 birds!)
Had a big day today which entailed me wearing a shirt and tie and discussing my professional qualifications to a board of 4 people who were instructed not to interact with me. So after studying all weekend, we'll see how that went in a week or so. Fingers crossed
It's been windy, so that makes birding quite hard. I went for a quick bite for lunch and tried for a California Gnatcatcher and Cactus Wren at a known location, but the wind was too much to even open an eBird record for it.
On the way back I cruised past the golf course and saw a huge flock of geese (finally). Scanning through the 60 or so geese, I was able to pick out two GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and a single CACKLING GOOSE. That CAGO I missed last year in the county, and it's been slow around the golf course. I'm still missing any white geese this year, even though a flock has been seen on the Oxnard Plain of late.
Right now, here are the top birds I've yet to see in Ventura County, at least for January:
